Donald Trump Blames Abortion For 2022 GOP Failure

Donald Trump decided to blame the GOP's failure to reach its goals in the 2022 election on "abortion extremists." Was he right or could it have been that all the losers that cost Team GOP in the election were highly Trump-backed candidates and he's just CYA?

ESPN Finds God, Temporarily...

ESPN decided it finally would give in to God, calling on everyone to pray as Buffalo Bills player, Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and was in critical condition after a seemingly routine play in the game. While, we certainly would agree with ESPN that prayers are needed, does ESPN really mean it or was this just a ploy for temporary sympathy? God does not take to being mocked or used kindly, so unless ESPN is now in service of God, not politics, maybe they should think twice about their actions.

Mr. Thomas Beats the Girls Again | The Afterthought 03/18/22

The man currently calling himself Lia Thomas won the NCAA women's 500-yard swimming championship on Thursday. Protests raged on both sides of the trans-athlete debate outside the venue, while Mr. Thomas dominated in the pool.

We discuss the reaction and ask are compassion and competition something that can or should co-exist in sports. #QuestionEverything #TheAfterthought #CriticalThinking

Moving

Hey there everyone. I wanted to thank you all for your support over the years through Critical Thinking and the off-shoot (and short-lived) podcast called Reviving Liberty. As I look to a future focused more on writing and podcasting together at the same time, I believe a move from Locals to Substack is the best for me.

That said, you should have already received an invite to the new Reviving Liberty Substack. I will be getting my first posts going this week, as I focus on the combination of the steps and actions on our personal journeys to reviving liberty for ourselves, but also using that lens as a way to show how to view and use the news of the day.

If you haven't already, you can subscribe or just follow along for free at https://revivingliberty.substack.com/

New Era in Liberty!

Hey there, you all may be seeing some subtle changes happening here already, but I wanted you all to be the first to know that after months away to reflect and think, I've begun to make some changes. While Critical Thinking is important, what's at stake — the liberty of the individual and the people writ large — can not be overstated. Many of you know my concept and ideas around "reviving liberty" from the show in the past, but I think it's time to put them in practice and put them under the microscope.

Given the insanity of the election season we are in and the questions about those running for the highest offices in the United States, its time to band together and focus on liberty. My goal is to teach what liberty really means, get real about the politics of today and how it focuses (or doesn't) on liberty-first policies and concepts. I'm also going to be driving home the path we can all walk on towards reviving liberty within ourselves and our communities (cause that's where the ...

Texas GOP Voters Stand Up to RINOS? | 03/06/24

On an otherwise sleepy "Super Tuesday" the voters in multiple RINO-led districts stood up for school choice and their voices to be heard. Is that a sign of hope in the GOP? Also, the Chicago Teachers Union wants a $50 billion union contract and MSNBC laughs at those who think immigration is a big deal in Virginia. All on a #WTFWednesday edition of Critical Thinking.

If You Can Keep It...

As I sat on my couch, like all of us (probably), watching the 2024 election results come in last night, I couldn't help but feel this overwhelming feeling that God was speaking to me. Not because President Donald Trump was clearly en route to victory, but because there was a message he needed to deliver.

That message? "If you can keep it."

Yes, those four infamous (and somewhat unlikely to have actually been said) words of Benjamin Franklin's kept ringing in my head and frankly haven't dulled one bit. I've never felt God calling me as strongly and urgently as I felt it over the last few days.

Ignoring that is a disservice to my faith and the reality that is in front of us, so that is going to be my focus and should be yours too. IF YOU CAN KEEP IT.

Franklin's warning wasn't just a catchy phrase - it was a stark reminder of the fragility of democracy in the form of a Republic. When he spoke those words, the fledgling United States was embarking on a grand experiment in self-governance. The Founding Fathers had created a system of checks and balances, but its success ultimately depended on the active participation and vigilance of the people.

Fast forward to 2024, and it feels like we're at another crossroads in American history. One election, of one person, does not a sea-change make. It's a step in the right direction, but just plugging the hole in the dam doesn't mean the thing won't still collapse.

So, as we sit here on the day after the election, there's little doubt that the leak in the dam has been plugged for a little bit, but there is way more work on the path to a more liberty-based society than ever before.

I'm not so sure that the MAGA movement even is interested in reviving liberty, or that it even knows the direction it wants to go, and we may find out it will go in crazy directions over the next four years. But, that doesn't mean the fighting stops.

The socialists aren't giving up, they aren't totally dead. They've been chipping away at the dam of American liberty for decades at this point and came within a whisker of breaking it all down in this election.

So, enjoy the win for what it was — an important moment in American history. It's something that's never happend in the lifetimes of anyone currently alive. Now, put all that passion and feeling in to fighting for liberty and see what truly can be unleashed in what has been God's greatest experiment in human history.

Reviving liberty isn't just casting a vote. It's an every day set of intential actions, thoughts and fellowship building. It took decades to nearly destory the fundamental liberty of this country, it likely is going to take the same to build it all back up.

But, that's what this site is dedicated to — answering the challenge that Franklin put down over 200 years ago. I for one know I'd like to to keep the republic and the liberty for which it stands. How about you? If so, let's go to work together!

It's time the path is laid bare and we begin to follow it together.
